After eating a tuna melt for dinner, sat down to Jeopardy! and the first category was “Toast.”  The $100 answer for the category was “tuna melt.”

After reading Jude the Obscure on the train from Munich to Berlin, sat down (in America) to read Kingsley Amis’s usage guide and saw he used that very Thomas Hardy novel as a reference.

What can you call this phenomenon?  It’s different than déja vu, not something already seen, more like something pulled forcibly into the world through the power of an experience.  Tuna melt as foodstuffs begets tuna melt as quiz show question.
